Is to be re-introduced in Britain.
This from the BBC:
"The great bustard, which can weigh around 15kg, once thrived in the UK.
Unfortunately the bird was regarded as a great delicacy in Britain and the last one was shot and eaten in 1832."
Anybody actually ever seen one? They've got 'em in Portugal and, I seem to remember, Hungary. They are fantastic. I love my great bustards. Very much looking forward to them coming home to roast. I mean roost.
Ought to make a tasty alternative to Goose this xmas.
Any recipes anyone?
