Just out of curiosity, who remembers Saturday afternoon wrestling on ITV, with commentary by Kent Walton, from places like the Municipal Buildings, Oldham or the Fairfield Halls in Croydon?
I remember from when I was about 5 - used to like watching Big Daddy, and there was some villain who had an evil wife who seemed to try and hit everyone with her handbag from my memory!
Yeah Big Daddy....
That malarky was far superior to WWF. Wasn't that on World of Sport sometimes with Dickie Davis...? Used to watch it as I waited for the footy results to come in.
Yes, we used to catch that on "World of Sport" most Saturdays. Big Daddy and Giant Haystacks were usually the favourites in my house.
I can recall Dave "Fit" Finley and his horrendously annoying wife, Princess Paula (who dressed up as a red... umm, I mean native American).
My grandmother seemed to know an awful lot about wrestling and was constantly name-dropping about the guy who announced all the bouts - forget his name but she seemed to be an old friend of his.
World of sport, Dickie Davies, Footie Focus with that lovely Bob Wilson, making goalposts out jumpers, those were the days...marvellous
Jackie Pallow who would get annoyed when the bad guy pulled on his little pony tail
Mick McManus
Kendo Nagasaki
One of my favourites was Johnny Kwango who would start headbutting when suitably wound up
Yeah, and it was REAL too........wasn't it? o
