At 4pm CST today I will be doing a couple of speed and configuration experiments. This may make Britnet unavailable for short durations.
For the more technical minded, is it possible for a web server to use compress web pages 'on the fly'. These are uncompressed with compatable browers, which most are these days.
With a compressed page the resulting file is smaller, and therefore quicker, especially for those on slow links.
I'm not sure that the server is configured to take full advantage of this, so I'll be doing some minor experiments.
