Does anyone know where the nearest place is to stay next to the U.S Embassy in London? Somewhere as cheap as possible preferably
Not sure it'll be cheap, but it's pretty near Marble Arch and I know there are lots of hotels on Park Lane. Somewhere around that area will work.
Anywhere near the US Embassy in London is going to be expensive (i.e. Park Lane, Mayfair, St James's, etc.). Why do you need to stay close to the embassy? You can always take the tube to the embassy and you will find cheaper hotels outside the main tourist areas.

You maybe need to hit the internet and try and find something by doing a search of that area.

I guess I don't need to stay close to the Embassy. I mean for somewhere less expensive I wouldn't mind a short walk..no more than about 25 mins though, or a short trip on the tube maybe?
What do you have in mind? Atlantic Paddington Hotel London (The) in Paddington is only £15 per room!???

Atlantic Paddington Hotel is more of a hostel than a hotel, but if that if fine with you, than go for it. Your best bet would be to search on the internet for what suits you.

The Travel Inn at County Hall (at the London Eye) is a good deal - but needs to be booked a good way ahead.
Just find a B&B near a tube station. You can find them pretty cheap. It was about 7 years ago but I stayed at one in Hammersmith for about £20 per night. Much cheaper than a hotel. You can then just take the tube.

So does anyone actually know of a place in Great Cumberland Place next to Dr. Phelans Surgery to stay at?
How far a walk is the Surgery from the Embassy?
When we went to the embassy we stayed in Kensington at the Kensington Close Hotel, which is not far from the Kensington Tube station. The Tara Hotel is in that same road. That was a few years ago now, but I expect those hotels will still be there. Look on the internet for any specials they may be running. It does not take long to get to the embassy on the tube. It is just a short walk after you get off the tube near the embassy. I forget which station you would need.

Same answer as you got on American expats - about 10 minutes.
As to hotels, you should be spoilt for choice if you look in the Paddington/Sussex Gardens area, and you'll have about a 10 minute walk in the morning to the doctor.
So can you pay for the medical with a credit card or does it HAVE to be cash?
Also is their another fee when you have your interview? if so, whats the cost and how did it have to be paid?
Also does anyone know of a good website to go on which list Hotels and B & B's etc..
I found a couple of website's but they were a bit shoddy....
The nearest Hotel to the embassy is the Millennium Mayfair Hotel, though not cheap as it is 4/5 star.....very nice though
