I think it is closing with the loss of about 200 jobs. Don't know if they will make the beer elsewhere. Go to the Scotsman or Edinburgh Evening News websites and I'm sure there is more info there.
I spoke to a guy from Anheuser-Busch yesterday who's staying at the HRH for the Nightclub and Bar Convention.
Apparently this is pretty much a done deal. Bud is the third-biggest selling beer in the UK at the moment which is giving AB the leverage to buy out Scottish and Newcastle.
Apart from Newky Brown what else do they brew?
S&N's company's own brands and licensed brands include Foster's Lager, John Smith's, Newcastle Brown Ale, McEwan's, Miller, Beck's and Kronenbourg.

Aha - we used to get crates of all those brands when my mum worked for Courage Breweries - did they get bought out by S & N a while back?
