Lord of the Rings, 11 times in fact. I was getting bored in the end. Please, no, not Lord of the Rings again I said, but it went on and on. However I was pleased to see Master and Commander get a couple of awards, I thought that was such a great film. But it was undoubtably New Zealand's night, so well done Peter Jackson. Now was that Armani or Debenhams that he was wearing? I suspect the latter. :D And was that a bird's nest in his wife's hair?
Great blubbery acceptance speeches from best actresses Charlize Theron and Rene Zellweger, but Sean Penn and the tall guy keep it together.
Billy Crystal did a great job. "People are moving to New Zealand to be thanked as we speak"..Great stuff.
All the ladies seemed to be wearing a colour variation of the same dress, but I liked Charlize Theron and Annie Lennox's frocks in particular. Didn't care for Rene Zellwegers meringuey thingy or Uma Thurmans sort of Kung foo get up.
Did anyone else stay up til the bitter "oh no not another award for The Lord of the Rings" end?
Fantastic stuff.
PS edited to add that I have nothing against the Lord of the Rings, heck I haven't even seen it, but I just wanted something else to win after a while to inject a bit of surprise/suspense into the evening, and indeed into me. :D
