I've just looked at the British Council website as they post all the arty-farty British cultural events which take place in the US. (Most of them tend to be boring photography displays roll )

However, there is a link to a Scottish cultural event they're holding in NYC next week. On Friday 5th and Saturday 6th April they are holding a combined comedy & musical event; some of the artistes have performed at the Edinburgh Festival. And the tickets are *FREE*!

I'm going to order a couple for me and my husband (you can order on-line and they post them to you, so you need to do this ASAP)

If anyone else can get tickets (I'm going to try and get them for Saturday and will only go on Friday as a 2nd choice), then it would be nice to meet up beforehand for drinks somewhere. The website to get info and order the tickets is

Did you order the tickets for the 730pm show? As I noticed they have 11am tickets, 2pm tickets, and 730pm tickets.
Not that I wouldn't mind meeting for a drink before the 11am show!!!

I ordered for the 7.30pm show. Their website is not that great to navigate. It does say that the evening begins with cabaret/comedy then becomes a club - I assume that will begin after 11pm (if it's all that trippy Ibiza stuff I'm outta there). I also said that if they have no tickets left for Sat night, then could I have some for Friday as a last resort. I gave my phone no. and asked to confirm with me first if they have to do that. I also asked how many tickets they have left for Sat night (didn't want to let on that I'm a Brit, I think they're trying to cater to the Americans to introduce them to Scottish culture!).

Even if the whole event is booked out, we Britnetters could still meet up I hope?

Got my tickets! (Well, not tickets as such, they e-mailed me yesterday to confirm that they have listed me + 1 guest on their guest-list on which they check on arrival, just need ID with my name on).

Glad you got them too! I haven't a clue where to meet up as I don't really know Manhatten - but Karyn's husband does. I had a really nice long chat with her on the phone last night - interrupted by "The Osbournes" programme starting on MTV!

She is thinking of driving into town (she's only 10 mins away from the GW bridge), and I'm going to phone her again tonight or tomorrow. It might be easier for us all to meet at her place and go on from there together - we have a minivan so we could all go in that. Send me a private message if you like "Moi" as I don't even know your name!
