Cleaning out my mailbox and wanted to post this before I lose it. You can also find a link to this site in the main links system.
Dear Nigel
just a note to tell you about my company
CURRYSOURCE offers to the British Community in
NYC. which you might consider posting on your
website.
Being from London and having lived here for many
years we have often bemoaned the paucity of high
quality, value for money Indian food in the city.
Finally we decided to do something about it and
11 months ago launched CURRYSOURCE - a gourmet
food store in Brooklyn specializing in Anglo and
Anglo-Indian Food.
We grind our own spices and batch-make a small
selection of top quality British style curries.
These curries are portioned into containers,
chilled and ready for the microwave or oven.
Along with these curries we also supply a variety
of side dishes such as saffron basmati rice,
spinach pakora, samosas, naan bread and various
chutneys.
Based in the Boerum Hill/ Smith Street section of
Brooklyn, we are expanding our coverage to
include regular delivery to Manhattan. So, if
you or any of your readers are also struggling
with the impossibilities of finding a decent
curry in NYC try us out. To place an order, or
learn more about us, we can be contacted either
by 'phone on either 718 797 9719 or 917 562 9547;
or email us at info@curry-source.com.
More information, including details of our
dishes, can be found on our web-site .
http//www.curry-source.com
Please note we stock a small but comprehensive
selection of British goods that we are also happy
to deliver.
If you are not a fan of the curry then please
consider passing this information on to someone
who might be interested.
Yours,
with thanks
Gary Dovey
P.S. We also offer a gift basket service of
British gourmet foods, British comfort foods and

about US
The CURRYSOURCE philosophy is to provide quality,
simplicity and care. Our mark of quality is that
we would feed this to our kid, happily. It's got
no additives, minimal amounts of cane sugar, and
freshly roasted spices. You could easily cook
these dishes if you had a cupboard full of fresh
spices, several hours and an 800ƒ F oven. Variety
may be the spice of life. But there is simply too
much 'choice.' So with simplicity in mind, we
prefer to focus on quality rather than range.
We make four different curries chosen to offer
the most variety in the smallest range. Three of
these curries will always be available the other
is a 'guest' curry and will change every month or
so. If you have a particular favorite please tell
us and we will see if we can offer it as a
'guest' curry.
Finally, CARE. We believe self interest is a
great motivator. So we started this business to
fulfil personal need. We love this stuff and
don't see why you shouldn't too.
Why don't we heat the food for you?
In an effort to keep our prices as low as
possible and our quality as high, we made the
decision not to re-heat the food. This allows us
to maintain our status as a grocer rather than a
restaurant. So sorry, no hot coffee. Also, our
compact store allows us to keep costs low and
focus on what we think we do well. That is why we
grind our own spice mixes and use the freshest
ingredients.
Why Anglo-Indian?
In India there is no such thing as 'Indian'
food. There is, in fact, no such thing as a
'curry.' With a population of a billion people,
15 languages, five major faiths and an area the
size of Europe, how could there be? But don't
despair, there is 'Indian' food in Britain.
However, its not usually cooked by Indians, but
by Bangladeshis. Is that clear? What we are
attempting to offer is Anglo-Indian cooking.
London has had 'Curry' for over 150 years.
Originally clustered around the dock area in the
East End of London, the second wave moved up to
the Warren Street area of London. The local
wallpaper manufacturer was Sanderson's; whose
specialty was 'flock' wallpapers. Hence the
obligatory red flock walls. Curry houses soon
moved across the country. Now even the smallest
town has an Indian restaurant. Simply put, its
Britain's 'national cuisine.'
Think globally, shop locally.
