"A Knoxville woman filed a proposed class action lawsuit Wednesday against Janet Jackson, Justin Timberlake, MTV, CBS and Viacom, contending she and other viewers were injured by their lewd actions during the Super Bowl halftime show.

Terri Carlin filed her lawsuit "on behalf of all Americans who watched the halftime show" in federal court in Knoxville."

The Smoking Gun has the complaint-

I can't believe this is still going on. Every day on the radio there is some conversation going on about the boob incident. Thankfully the radio station I listen to sees the funny side of it and if anyone makes a comment regarding it being offensive they actually laugh and put the person down a bit!

There was one guy on the radio today who commented on the fact that he can't believe what a fuss is being made of the incident with the boob. He felt that that was the tamest part of the whole show. He said that all the dancing and moving together (rubbing and grinding) was far more suggestive and inappropriate for young children than the revealing boob!

Would't it be great if the courts through this out and laugh at themselves. Fat chance I suppose roll
oh, I always thought indecent exposure was illegal in the USA.

but then again I am a prude.
Amazing! Evidently the tawdry parade of incest, infidelity, bestiality, paternity tests, fetishes, brawling and general wierdness that passes for daytime TV is considered relatively benign, but one nipple (a perfectly natural part of the body) on prime TV for half a second has a nation up in arms. Am I missing something here? -?
I suggets that all those offended go read something wholsesome. Like The Old Testament.
I can give 5 valid reason why it was unacceptable

1) It was illegal, whilst we are for the most part used to the concept of nude sunbathing being from Europe, last time I checked it was illegal in the USA. If she had done what she did on Miami south beach, she would have been arrested.

2) It was planned. No-one wear a huge sun shaped nip ring and doesn't intend to show it off.

3) If it was planned it was also corporately endorsed. MTV offered "shocking moments" when advertising the half time show on their website.

4) It was just tacky and unneseccary.

5) It reinforces the myth that "bad publicity is better than no publicity" Janet Jackson has an album coming out later this year.
Making an ass of yourself whilst in the spotlight is better than not being in the spotlight at all no?

There you go, 5 reasons why I found the whole palava unacceptable. Notice I didn't use the following words.
breast
pasty
naked
offended
sex
watershed
disturbed
Mary Whitehouse
Hopefully, next year's half-time show will be a high school marching band and some juggling clowns - instead of this year's clown with jugs!
I agree that too much is being made of it and I am sure that many would be shocked to know that I showed my daughter the unblurred photo of it. However, manc does have a point. If a certain part of the male anatomy had been revealed there would be outrage indeed.

My hubby also had a point - he was more concerned with the simulated assault on JJ by JT. Actually - I think that is something people shuold be uspet with.

Next thing will be groups of pre-teen wannabes introducing this element into their acts!

Would it also have been no big deal if Beyonce had gotten her baps out after singing the national anthem?

I completely agree with KG and Mr Kentgirl!

I have absolutely no problem with the "nudity" and find the prudishness of some Americans highly irratating but I feel very uncomfortable with the way this was excuted. I realise that JT wasn't actually assulting JJ and it was all planned but it appears as an act of male dominance/assult on a female and that is what I find disturbing/inappropriate.

Can I sue Ms Carlin for offending me by her frivolous lawsuit?

More important, if as a result of this lawsuit, I don't see a bared breast at each and every sporting event from here out, can I level new punitive fines against her?

I'm appalled that she's trying to limit the Second Amendment guarantee to bare arms. And breasts wink
Beyonce's baps? Who's gonna complain about that?

Let's be clear.

The whole thing was entirely innapropriate for the Superbowl.
Jackson should be charged with indecent exposure.
MTV should be told to grow up.
People offended enough to sue should really get out more.

Agreed
I wasn't offended and neither should anyone be, it was bizaare at best.
but as I said illegal and tacky, I don't think she should be charged, just given a bit of a bollocking.

Maybe it's art! D
