I have no idea if we have talked about this as I cannot be bothered to look. A day does not go by without me hearing from somebody "I have got to have my caffeine fix", or I have to have a Pepsi / Coke / Mountain Dew / whatever.
All the cups of coffee in the world and all the cans of coke will not wake me up. In fact I always have a cup of coffee before I go to bed at night and sleep like a baby !!!! Am I the only one, is there anyone else who does not have the jitters when they intake caffeine ????
It does not make me sleepy I just have no reaction, I feel like I am missing out....
Same here.
I don't drink coffee anyway as I don't like the taste but will drink a couple of cans of Pepsi a day and even close to bed time. Makes no difference to whether I'm tired or not.
Old wives tale if you ask me wink
Doesn't keep me awake

Mind you, wonder what life'd be like without several pints of tea, the odd coffee and 4-6 cans of coke a day?
Caffeine had no effect on me until I turned 40. I used to drink gallons of it day and night. Now I only drink it during the day - not usually after about 4pm now.
When pregnant with my son five years ago I tried to give it up but had a splitting headache without one cup a day. I don't get wired with it but I do miss it.
I definitely do not use caffeine (as the medical profession seems to think).
Drink lots of very strong coffee including before going to bed, has no impact on me whatsoever, in fact if I do on occasion wake up through the night for whatever reason, I will often go make a coffee and sit out on the patio for 5 minutes with a smoke then fall straight off to sleep, after getting back in bed of course.
Don't drink coke or really any soda, the only reason I can figure so many others do is because of clever marketing, I can't see what all the fuss is about, would much prefer water - actually beer is probably my soda wink
I did a detox on my system about 4 months ago and one thing I had to do was stop drinking caffiene. Never thought it had an effect on me prior to that, would drink coffee and tea until bedtime with no problems. When I went off it I had a splitting headache for about a week and then felt great. I haven't gone back to it because I don't want to go through that again, and figure since I'm off it I may as well stay off.
I was up to around 4 cups in the morning and then did a similar detox and got the same results......feeling great. I love coffee too much to giv eup totally so I limit myself to a couple of cups after lunch on a sunday and that's it. I never did drink coffee in the evening anyway because it would keep me from sleeping although I would feel sleepy as normal, it would keep me from dropping off.
Fizzy pop, however, doesn't do anything to me for some reason I can't fathom.
The biggest effect tea and coffee have on me is the frequency of my visits to the pot.......then I go all the time....about as much as if I drink lots of beer.
Detoxed from caffeine several times but always go back to it. Stop drinking it mid to late afternoon, switch to tea then, too much hassle to brew a whole pot for myself.
Sodas i can't drink. Pepsi, coke, diet, classic whatever. Unless there's alcohol in there somewhere sodas just put me to sleep. Must be the sweetening agent. Was going to say sugar, but it isn't is it?
I'm not sure it's true that caffeine doesn't have some effect. When I worked nights I used to drink three cups of coffee, the good stuff you find two inches to the bottom of the jug and it kept me awake even though I'd been up 24 hours or so. I think my record at staying awake through caffiene was 48 hours.
I still do the occasional night shift now (under protest) and find that coffee does keep me awake, albeit a mean, bitter and jittery awake.
Try going a week without any caffeine products and be the judge.
Same here, I drink coffee all day and have no reaction what-so-ever, I have my last cup just before bed but concede to having a glass of water on my bedside table for 'in' the night.
I have my coffee Black and very strong.
I have tried de-caf to see what happens, but nothing does, I dont get withdrawal symptoms after drinking de-caf for a few days, but I dont like de-caf so I always go back to to the regular.
I must just be a natural slug seeing as the caffiene doesnt work )
Mandy
No effect on me either.
Charlie on the other hand....
Doesn't keep me awake

Now there's a thought. I could probably do without the soda but a day without tea !!! I shudder at the prospect.
Bit of a strange English person in that respect I guess, I don't like the taste of tea, never have - Mrs AZ however does drink tea and she is American - go figure
Drink a whole pot of coffee every morning .
I used to drink tea in the morning until i came to america and the coffee habit got me, still drink tea during the day .
Never hardly touch sodas they make me burp and fart more then usual.
Cant see the point of drinking no caffiene coffee much like no point in drinking alcohol free beer .
I think a lot of it is psycho-simmmatawhatever (in your head). The people I work with go on and on and on about not being able to function until they have their coffee in the morning. One woman demands juice and coffee because apparently she needs the sugar and the caffeine to get her going... roll
I used to drink tea all day when I was in the UK, and loads of squash (diluted fruit juice). My Nana is of the generation where the day is broken into segments appropriate to only one type of drink - morning is tea, 11 o'clock is coffee. Lunchtime is coffee, dinner is tea, evening is coffee with hot milk. She never deviates from the plan.
Now I drink peppermint tea in the morning and then another cup when I get to work. It has no caffeine and tastes delicious. I only have decaf coffee if I go out to a restaurant or someone's house and get offered it. I never drink soda any more - the thought of the sugar makes me feel weird and it fills me up too much. (I will have vodka and lemonade when in the UK though... not sure if that counts wink ). I think lack of soda and other sugary drinks has helped my teeth stay filling-free for 25 years.
Stelly.
