Ok,
After Debs put the rainbow theme tune in my head, it got me thinking about kid’s shows that you grew up with at home, and nobody appreciates them over here.
For example, I have a t-shirt with button moon on the front, and one with bagpuss. When people ask me what they are, and I try to explain that one is a show about a wooden spoon going to a moon made out of a button, and the other is about a sad grumpy old tattered cat, they just don't get it.
So let’s reminisce for a bit, what is your favourite TV show from your childhood and why?

Hi there, michelle! How's the Coca-Cola theme going? ;)
For those who need a memory prod, check out
this nostalgia section on our homepage :D
Me? Clangers.
(btw, don't be surprised if this thread magically ends up in the entertainment forum -it'll be the work of that Zippy, it's the only job he could find after the naked bear and gay hippo scandal)
I always liked Blue Peter, but if we're going for an animated one then it has to be the Magic Roundabout!!!! )
Debs x )
Mary, Mungo and Midge )
Mandy
The Magic Roundabout - been looking for that garden ever since.
Only four more continents to go....
Postman Pat and Chorlton and the Wheelies were pretty good.
Started really thinking about this and tried to name all the programs that I really loved as a kid, see if these ring a bell
Sooty and Sweep (I never liked Sue, and don't really know where she came from.)
Orville (the green duck-thing that wished he could fly) and Cuddles
Danger Mouse (the mouse with one eye who was helped by a blind hamster!)
Bananaman (who would have thought the power of bananas would make Eric realise his love of blue lycra)
Jamie and the magic torch (do you think it would have come over here as James and his magic flashlight??)
Pigeon Street (If you lived in pigeon street, here are the people you would meet, here are the people who would say hello...goodbye)
Superted (Ahhh you have to love a bear whose best friend has a terrible skin condition)
The Family Ness (pure quality humour, I used to love this as a kid)
The Trap door (Ok it took me years to be able to watch this program, I was always terrified when the trap door started to rattle and I would hide behind the sofa, so this is on my list purely out of respect of making a children’s program so scary a child couldn't watch it!)
Inspector Gadget (I tended to watch this while taking a household item apart - usually the toaster, guess that’s why I became an engineer)
Oh I could go on and on…..

Gordon the Gopher
I know they didn't have their own shows, but they were still celebrity plush toys.... D
MEDickinson, you can't be much older than me. I watched all those shows too.
My sister gave me a (UK) DVD for Christmas that has an episode of each of the following Button Moon, Rainbow, Jamie and the Magic Torch, Mr. Ben and .... something else...
Haven't watched it yet but I will soon. I like the Wombles and Pigeon Street also. Got on the BBC website the other day and spent ages looking at the Look & Read pages... I remember watching it at school every week and being scared of the Dark Towers story.
Stel.
Stel,
I saw that video in the shops, but resisted buying it as I was afraid my opinion of them would change if I watched them as an adult. Let me know if it's any good and I'll get a copy.
My mum still has all my rainbow videos from when I was a kid, but they are 15 years old and on VHS, so no good to me over here.

Didn't have TV in the 30's. But I used to like listening to Childrens Hour and Toytown.
I don't think I missed much. Much of our time was spent outside of the home, enjoying time with freinds
I've got two of those DVD's:
First one is Cult Kids Classics with:
Chorlton and the Wheelies
Danger Mouse
Count Duckula
Jamie and The Magic Tourch
Button Moon
Rainbow
And the other on is Kult Kidz with:
The Flumps
Willo the Wisp
Crystal Tipps and Alistair
Fingerbobs
Mary Mungo and Midge
Rhubarb and Custard
Bod
Hectors House
I got them a couple of years ago and it was fun watching the programs again, though Hectors House and Mary, Mungo etc was before my time.
My little nephew Stuart loved them :D
