Well ... not quite. Michael Jackson anyone?

'Crocodile Hunter' Steve Irwin holds his baby son, Bob, while feeding a giant crocodile with a dead chicken at Queenland Zoo in Queensland, Australia, January 1, 2004. Irwin triggered outrage when he held his one-month-old baby while feeding a snapping crocodile during a show at his Australian zoo.

I'm not sure on this one. I read about it yesterday and while we all may believe he was being stupid, he obviously knows what he is doing around animals and knows how to handle them. It wasn't a flash in the pan idea like MJ's was. Him and his wife have introduced their children to different animals for a while.

Don't experts say that fear is the cause of many animal attacks? So, is Steve wrong by having his children comfortable around animals from a very young age. -?
I tend to agree, though I must say, I do think Steve is a little nuts!
But who in the world knows more about what he's doing around crocs than Steve Irwin? And look where the focus of the croc is 100%.
I'll be interested to hear what his wife, Terri, has to say about it.

Crikey!!
That's no way to hold a one-month-old baby! There's no decent head support, especially if he had to make a sudden move. Bloody stupid and possibly even more dangerous than MJ's stunt. The croc would be just as happy with either snack and it's not like Steve's never had to move back sharpish after misjudging a croc's mood roll

Crikey!!

Apparently his wife handed the baby to him!

Steve Irwin, is a nit-wit, imo he did the dangling thing to outdo M.J, and show his contemp at a crowd of watchers who are horrified at stupid attemps for worldwide publicity. Maybe he doesn't know crocs/aligs. tend to prefer live humans to dead poultry. roll
I think he's a complete moron!!! So is his wife who stood there smiling whilst he did it! evil

I don't care HOW comfortable you are around a croc, that is ridiculous. If he wants to put his own life in danger on a daily basis with his daring stunts, then fine, but to put his baby in such a position is just plain child neglect. I think this kind of behavious is worthy of having the child removed from the home IMO - they have certainly take kids away for a lot less in this country!

You would think the Roy eating tiger incident would have taught Steve a lesson. It doesn't matter how comfortable you feel around wild animals, they are still wild. They said there were sharp shooters on hand, but crocs are cold blooded animals and don't fall over and die with one shot!
I reckon the croc was doped, but as him indoors said, even a doped croc would have had a go if he'd dropped the baby! Not a good idea x
Well first, he's not holding that baby properly, and second he's stupid.
We all remember what happened to that bloke in Vegas.....

Crocs like all wild animals can be trained ,but not tamed .
Sometimes the most knowledgeable amounst us do or say silly things ,this time it was steves turn.
Did anyone see the video? If you watch the audience, no one is alarmed by this. And that baby looks more than a month old when you see the video too.
It's a shame - he obviously didn't think about the consequenses before he did this. Even if it is safe and he knows the croc, etc, etc... his reputation is shot and I bet his ratings are going to take a dive. And I bet his wife's ratings are going to take an even bigger dive.
I don't see his ratings taking a dive. Jackson's didn't! Some of his friends thought he was nuts but people are still offering him their children for the night. Silly, but not that damaging.

Why?
I should have said the ratings here in the States would dive.

...because of the way people are with things like this... "Where was the mother... oh she HANDED the baby to him??" You know, people here are so judgemental of others, quite often they tend to make a judgement without bothering to look at the entire picture. IMHO.

Personally I like Steve and Terri and won't change my opinion of them because he did something in poor taste. I don't think it was a smart thing to do, but it doesn't make me dislike him.
