It was 50 years ago last week that Dylan Thomas died.

This weekend, BBC4 broadcast a new version of "Under Milk Wood". They electronically extracted Richard Burton's voice as First Narrator from the original 1953 broadcast, and mixed it with a new production, including Siân Phillips as the Second Narrator.

If you've never heard a recording of this landmark play, do yourself a favour and click on the link below. Lean back, close your eyes and imagine yourself in the brine-smelling streets of Llareggub.

The broadcast starts a minute or two into the link, so be patient.

hey hartley, if you really like Dylan too try out last weeks afternoon readings. Got to get there before Monday for Mondays if you see what I mean. Both those and there's one afternoon play which is a cracker.
Listened to Milkwood. Richard burton's voice just turns my knees to jelly. I can hear what Lizbeth saw in him! lol
Oh, thanks, Annie—"Very enjoyable!" lol
You're welcome. Hey, have you tried John Peels Home Truths. It really is quite good. He gets the oddest of people on and the stories are , well, they could only be British!
No I haven't. Is that Radio 2?
Not sure. It's on the opening page for Radio4. I'll check tomorrow and give you the link.
