Hi Henrietta,
No fair for us, doesn't look like there is any-one in CT or Chicago!
Are you the same Henrietta that appears on the britsonline forum? I posted there too but no luck so far.
I thought I would just say Hi as it is so sad for us having a big fat zero on our replys! sad
smile I spent a few days in Chicago a few years back (gosh where does the time go?) & thought it was a really great city.
What brought you over? Are you enjoying it here?
I'm going to post this now and see if I have actualy managed to do this right!

Just thought hope you aren't too disappointed when you read the above and find I'm not in Chicago. I'm sure there most be lots of Brits in your part of the country its just a case of flushing them out - so to speak.
P.s I'm ridiculusly proud of myself for actualy managing to make a posting just like a real proper internet bod!
Think I might have made a few spelling errors there!

Deborah,
It was really nice of you to respond to my post. Yes, poor us, boo-hoo!
I came to Chicago after my Dad got a job here ages ago -- in the '70s. Yes, it's a great city to live in. I work as a music teacher and live in the suburbs.
I visited the East coast a few years ago for a vacation in Boston.

Hi Henrietta,
You are very welcome! I just wish you had got some postings from Chicago Brits, still the membership numbers are increasing every day so there has to be some more from Chicago soon!
My husband was approached about a job in Chicago a few years back and we would def have moved there if he had got it because we thought it was such a great place, although I know the winters are brutal.
I have been really lucky to have recently found a few Brits here in CT and we have started getting together on a regular basis, it has been wonderful to just chat away to someone without getting that funny look which you know means they don't know what on earth you are talking about. Also we can get all our pet peeves about the US off are chests without offending any Americans!
We are thinking about putting an advert in our local paper to see if we can locate any more Brits that would like to join in.
You have been here such a long time do you feel more British or American?
Did you like Boston?
Better dash

Hello Henrietta,
I've been in Chicago for a couple of years.
Met a few Brits in that time. I could introduce you to them, if you like.
Good luck with your quest.
Jason.

Chicagoland Brits,
I live in Cary (NW suburbs) with my American wife. I've been here for about 6 months. Not met any Brits yet.
Azeem,
I worked for Kvaerner in Stockton-on-Tees 1999-2000. Pubs are hard to come by, I think there are only a few in Chicago - The Map Room & Red Lion.

Dear Chicago Brits,
Wow -- it's great to hear from you all. Knew you were out there somewhere.
I've already been chatting with Azeem and we've been having some good giggles.
Yes, Jason, please contact me with information about other Brits in Chicago. I think my email is somewhere available on this
site.
Actually, the Chicago Shakespeare Theatre is doing "The Tempest." I saw another production there with Simon Callow of "Four Weddings and a Funeral" fame doing a one man show on Charles Dickens. He was absolutely fantastic. The theatre itself has great sightlines and Navy Pier is really cool to hang out at, especially now the weather's getting nice. So if a gang of you wants to go, I'd be up for coordinating details, maybe even buying you all some chocs at intermission! (But, sob sob, they don't sell icecream like they do in London theatres.)

Henrietta,
Hi there, I have lived in Chicago for about 10 years now, and ahve run into many Brits over that time, new friends and even old school friends who I hadn't seen in 15 years. Let me know if you need further info on some of the Brit hang-outs.
