Hi All,
I think bbc america should be called the ground force changing rooms channel. LOL lol
I only watch eastenders every saturday and TOTP but they may not be showing that now.
I wish they would show only fools and horses.
Also i think bbc world news is a waste of time on bbc america you can get enough world news channels like cnn.
They should maybe not show one of the 10 episodes of changing rooms and feed some bbc1 news once a day for 30mins.
Anyway I am glad to have found you lot on ere.
Cheers.
Malcolm.
Horrible channel - I was so dissapointed. It may have The Office on it bu tit makes British tv look awful.
I liked the programmes they had on BBCA (Murder in Mind, Jonathan Creek, Graeme Norton etc - and my fave, WNTW), but of course, there was too much of a good thing with back-to-back CR/GF. The main downside, I found, was the Billy Mays genre of commercials.
I agree, a feed of BBC1 news would have been much better than BBC World. I'm sure that most expats are interested in news from home, rather than news about anywhere except home. Watching on the web just isn't the same.
I think too many of you expect BBCA to be like BBC back in England. It is annoying the way they constantly repeat shows but occasionally they do show some excellent programmes. Obviously it is not a channel to watch all the time. It may be as we have been here 14 years that we appreciate some of the shows more, some of you that have only been here a short while will have seen a lot of these recently but to us they are new. I just love Coupling, Braithwaites, Homefront in the Garden and some of the Parkinson interviews. I was annoyed when they moved EE to 3 hours on Sat. mornings, not a convenient time, but its become very repetitive anyway!(bring back Grant Mitchell!!!!)
I guess you'll be interested to know that Dirty Den came back this week then?
I watch no tv over here to be honest now apart from the osbournes and now that new er is on tomorow i think i will watch that.
At least we do not have to have a tv license Lol.
I rent out my house in crawley just had to renew the stupid license again. £116 for that.
Malcolm.
Don't bother watching it since they dropped Father Ted....
Consequently I spoke to Dermot who played Father Ted the day he died. That was an excellent show and it's such a shame he passed away.
As far as BBC America goes - I understand that the yare trying to provide for various time zones - but why such a blanket of a particular show (that being Changing Rooms or Ground Force)? cant they at the least provide some quality repeats of great British shows - Attenborough documentaries, Walking With Beasts (presumably the Welsh), Monty Python, the great drama's they have on the BBC? Hell if it really is just a cross section of some of the bst shows in Britain they would have done well putting on something at least half decent.
Maybe one day, the licensing agreement will expire and Discovery will lose the right to produce such a false version of the BBC? That might open the door for the BBC to produce their own broadcast channel over here, with more of their own stuff? I suppose we'd not get Father Ted on there any more but no big deal as you can get stuff like that on DVD quite easily.
I'd rather pay 116 quid a year for decent TV than $45 a month for complete toss.
I think next time Comcast call me to upgrade from Digital Bronze to Silver, I'll tell the rep that I'm so glad they called and can they please move me down a tier and how much will I save per month? wink
We did just that. We don't receive BBCAmerica any more. OK, so I'm only saving $30 a month and I think I spend more than that in the Body Shop but the only reason I had the package was for that one channel. It simply wasn't worth it.
I guess you'll be interested to know that Dirty Den came back this week then?
Bleedin' 'ell Ang'....
Who was it fell in the canal then?
When did Den return in the UK? Seem to recall he was there when I was back at Christmas but to be honest, I wasn't paying that much attention.
BBC America - load of naddage.
It used to be great, with all the Britcoms like Bottom, Fast Show and Red Dwarf... but now, it's pants-vision.
Dirty Den hasn't come back in the UK yet but is supposed to make his entry at the end of this month...which is exactly when I'll be on vacation in the states and won't give a toss!
Me and the old man are EE watchers, although that is the only shnow we have consistantly watched over the years, I just don' thave the time to commit myself to more than that. I am lucky enough to have my Sky satelite set up here in NL.
