Can anyone recommend a reasonably priced place to get vids converted from VHS to NTSC ? I bought a 6 video set of "Playing the Field" and don't really want to pay $20 a tape for conversion ! Any suggestions please ?
Thanks
Alan
I have seen a video machine that will pay them but you'll pay around $500 for that. Probably better getting DVDs instead.
I bought my Aiwa MX-100 from these guys about four years ago and it has been great! Their service was pretty good as well.
The link should take you to their selection of multi-standards VCRs and some are only around $200 or so. $500 would buy you a very nice system but you don't need to spend quite that much.

Where I live it's best to go to dodgy looking video stores serving large European groups - here it's Greek, Portugese, Italian etc. They generally only charge about $5-10 an hour. In Florida there must be even Brit places.
If you are going to playing a lot of tapes then a multi-system VCR is the only way to go. Make sure you get a converter player though as VCRs that are only multi-system also require a multi-system TV.
I have a Samsung SV5000 that I got a couple of years ago for about $400 and it has been fantastic. You should be able to search around and find one for a bit less now.
I use a good tv input card on the pc and go in pal and out ntsc. My pc video card is also connected to my tv downstairs.
It is better form us doing it this way as we have less frames a sec than ntsc. That is why ntsc converted to pal looks so bad.
