Krispy Kreme is over-rated. Lamar's Donuts are the bomb. D I could eat a dozen custard-filled every day if given the chance.

I don't like the donuts here at all. Was spoiled though because my dad always brought us a bag of those hot, jam donuts that he'd buy from The Oven Door in Bracknell.
The off-duty Police can have my share of donuts here.

I have to say that I am inclined to agree with Pilgrim here.... British doughnuts are softer, chewier and tastier. However I am not averse to the occasional Boston Creme..... ;)

They sell Krispy kreme donuts in all the gas places here & I honestly can't see what's so great about them. I thought it was just me as I don't really have a sweet tooth so don't go for donuts at all.

Not keen on them , but then didn't like them much in the UK. I wonder if they'll tone down the sweetness for the UK market? Makes me laugh that something as low brow as a krispy kreme makes its debut in Harrods.

I regularly annoy American's by telling them how much Krispy Kreme donuts suck. Now Tim Hortons, thats another matter - those things are great. I was a Boston Cream guy, now I'm on to Sour Creams. Western New York lists donuts as one of its regional foods and we have them for breakfast at work quiet a lot. The problem though is the Spar near where I used to liv used to sell Chocolate filled chocolate donuts - something no one seems to do here that were incredible. They also sold Crumpffins which came in a tin foil pie wrapper, which were like half donut half cake and the entire centre of it was chocolate sauce.
And I cant find anywhere that has good eclairs or Chioux (spelling?) buns. But by God they do good Cheese Cake and Mississippi mud pie.

I'm with you on Tim Horton's. I'm heading up to Canada this weekend and I can't wait to start the weekend off with an apple fritter.

Tim Hortons suck. Their sandwiches are plastic tasting crap.
not a popular opinion here I would imagine.

Hint Dont buy a sandwich in a donut chain.

I agree about the Krispy Kreme being over rated if you buy them from a gas station. What you need to do is try them straight off the production line when they're properly fresh, they taste completely different. We're fortunate in that there is a KK manufacturing store less than 2 miles from our front door.

Mr.B.. this has to be the funniest thing I've read in ages. I now need to clean up the water I spat on my monitor *LOL*
