BBC Radio 2 brings live coverage of the switching-on of the world famous Blackpool Illuminations on Friday, August 29.

To celebrate the turning on of over a million lights, covering six miles of Blackpool Promenade, BBC Radio 2 hosts a night of live music from the Radio 2 Arena, Blackpool.

This year Blue are turning on the lights following in the footsteps of Ronan Keating, Steps, Westlife, Kermit The Frog, The Bee Gees, Shirley Bassey and Radio 2's own Terry Wogan.

Special guests performing at the BBC Radio 2 Arena include Blue, Atomic Kitten, Liberty X, Robin Gibb and Louise.

Blue's Antony Costa said: "We are all really looking forward to performing for Radio 2 in Blackpool. We love performing up north, the crowds always give it loads and we buzz off that on stage."

definitely not if Blue are performing :)

Wouldn't be surprised if there were a few mime artists too. roll Ridiculous.
Can't be any worse than the airshow I heard broadcast a few years ago... the aerobatics lost quite a bit without the visuals. When I worked in radio I can remember running the board one day when a program host decided to feature a slideshow of her vacation pics on her weekly radio show... she brought in a projector and used one of the studio walls as a screen and then went through each slide describing what she was looking at and the listeners weren't seeing.
