Anyone seen this show on PBS? Thought it was going to be like the excellent Pioneer Quest but have been hilariously let down. On Pioneer Quest two Canadian couples lived for a year in the wasteland of Manitoba (actually a great place) come the worst snow in a century, wettest and hottest summer in two, and overcoming every adversary. They didnt see their families, built their houses, farmed the land, and helped each other and their animals survive in pretty geniune conditions. Iron Age though sees 10 British idiots smegging about in a field for half the day before buggering off down the pub for last orders! On Iron Age they only have to stay there for six weeks and so far have broken every rule set for them. They have been caught off down the pub, they use mobile phones whenever they like, have flagged down a burger van for some nosh, go off down town half the time and on next weeks show are going on a day trip to the beach! I thought I was going to hate the 2 hippies the most what with all the "let us worship the moon and the owl" crapola the mad one was spouting (he's the one who looks like Sideshow Bob would if he didnt know how to wash). I was impressed by how these 2 refused to put on wellies that the rest of the cast had bascially gone on strike to get ahold of - they really seemed to want to be authentic - but then these two were the first ones off down the pub straight after. And that irritating women who didnt want them to kill the cow for food and thought about stopping them - what a great comment - "it's so inhumane, I cant bear it - why does she have to die? I guess I'll just have to think about my juicy steak afterwards though"
They should rewrite this show as Survivng The Ironing - it would be far more treacherous than this. Although I'm sure the star would bugger off down the pub.
