According to the BBC news director over at the BBC America website BBCWorld will be launched this year in the US!!!! Anyone else heard anything ? fingers crossed D

BBC World? Not BBC Prime? I came across a rumour that that might be launched in the US this year.

There was talk of it over in there forums, BBC World was mentioned not BBC Prime.Think this is shown all over the world,we had it in Germany 15 years ago....loved it much better than the BBC we get right now (

We already get BBC World here in Canada. I've been amazed that it hasn't been available in the U.S It's available here on digital cable or by satellite.
It's the BBC's 24 World News TV station - a bit like News 24 but international news, as the name implies. It also has shows like Hardtalk, Talking Movies, BBC Online (computer programme), Panorama, etc.
What it will probably mean is that BBC World News will be taken off BBC America (it's not shown on BBC Canada).
It was really great being able to watch BBC World during the war in Iraq.
I highly reccommend it.

Sounds interesting - I liked Panorama on occasions and the regular news might be good. I always miss BBC America's news as everything seems to be on eastern time.
