I am a 37 year old working mother with a 1 year old boy, living in Weston and would like to meet some other Brits nearby.
If anyone is interested in getting together or if there are any existing "groups" round here please let me know.
Jackie
OMG..........just you wait.......

Hello Jackie
Im pleased to say there are loads of crazy Brits here in lovely C.T posting on this board. We are all very nice don't you listen what the others say lol
Im not sure where Weston is,I shall have a look on my map but it can't be too far away.Im planning (another roll ) party in September.I will be posting details soon. )
How long have you been here?
Hi Lisa
We have been in Ct since September - before that we spent 4 months in New jersey (yuk) and before that 18 months near LA - which I liked. Its nice to be on the East Coast since I felt a bit too far away from the rest of the world in california.
Weston is next to Westport - a small town - about 45 minutes from New Haven I think. I like it here - the lifestyle is great - I think we are here to stay (my husband is American) but I need to get to know some people. My recent experiences getting to know Americans have been a bit depressing (they are far too well behaved) which is why I thought I would try this web site (not that I have anything against Americans - I married one after all)
Would love to come to a party with other Brits - it sounds as though you have them often?
I see you are from Derbyshire - wherabouts? I am from Chesterfield - parents still live there.
Jackie
I am from Chesterfield
I think Chesterfield is one of the loveliest towns in Britain, for I have the fondest memories of Chesterfield.
The peak district, a wonder all of it's own.
The warped spire of the church that can be seen all over town.

aaaah the memories.

there are certain things about British conversation i dont miss at all................
Hi Jackie! I'm in New Milford....about an hours drive due north of you straight up rte 7. There's a few of us nearby and we have regular coffee mornings and catch up with the goss. I had a friend down in Wilton which is about 15 minutes from you I think, but she moved up to Boston and we lost touch. (
Lisa Hyland and I get together most weeks and have lunch/ go shopping/chill out, and most people (Brits) I know here have kids so you'd fit right in!
Look forward to meeting with you soon. oh, and BTW we ARE all mad as monks!!!!! lol
Debs x )
Hi Debs
This is great - thanks for the reply - Im glad I found this web site. Im right next to wilton.
I would love to meet you and Lisa or others . I work full time so not able to make coffee mornings but I do have a flexible schedule - I work from home - so am sure we could work something out. I can always find an excuse to go shopping .......
Jackie
Small,Small world ! My Mum is from Chesterfield and most of her family still live there, some in Brimington and some in Wingleworth.
I come from Hartshorne a small village near to Repton in Derbyshire then moved to Nottingham.
One of our other Britfriend is from Chesterfield and another Nicky Nak is from Sheffied.
We have quite a few weekend get togthers,My parents arrive on Saturday so im busy for a few weeks but we shall have to meet up soon.
Jackie -be careful! This lot are part of the CT cult -a clan so inviting and friendly they attract people like Cel (from Texas) and me (from Michigan) to visit, then don't tell us how to leave! The only advice they gave us was "left, left and left again"! ...Oh, and they are certainly not well-behaved! o
....yes, I visited over a year ago now and I'm still in therapy o
yeah cel, do you still think you have to roll your trouser leg up, show your nipple and do a funny handshake when you go into strangers houses?
silly boy...that only happens on a Sunday, everyone knows that roll
