I keep trying in vain to make cookies but they keep coming out too hard. I want the sort that are nice and chewy. Also the oven in our rented house seems to have real problems distributing heat so the bootom always get more cooked than the top. Any tips??? and recipes please???
Do you have an oven thermometer?
This way you will know if your oven is actually at the temp you set it at.
Apart from that I don't have a clue. I always take the easy way out and use ready made cookie dough because my son likes to make them.
BTW We'll be in Nova Scotia for a week next Thursday. It's the in-laws 50th wedding anniversary party. P
Put an empty baking tray on a shelf beneath to deflect the heat and make the oven temperature more even around your food.
When you drop them by the teaspoonful or whatever, you're not flattening them out are you? I did that my first time & couldn't figure out why they turned out like little bricks.
Also are you at altitude? that makes a difference too.

If your computer gets hungry ..does it eat cookees ????? :D
My wife manages to make cookies that are chewy, so chewy that if you try eating one right when they come out of the oven, they bend away from your mouth with gravity so you have to quickly jerk your head down to catch the falling glob. If you miss you have a big mess on the floor and dribble down your chin )
